Obituary for Lucy E Monjaras (Valencia)

For those friends and family wishing to send floral arrangements for Mrs. Monjarás, we suggest waiting, until the memorial service has been scheduled.

Lucy Monjaras passed from this earthly life into eternal rest on Monday, September 28, 2020 at the age of 97. Born to Higinio and Natividad (Jaime) Valencia in Oklahoma City on October 26, 1922, Lucy grew up in the Walnut Grove neighborhood and would live her entire life in South Oklahoma City. She graduated from Central High School and later worked in the Little Flower Catholic Church print shop. At the annual Church carnival, she caught the eye of Pedro (Pete) Monjaras. As it was meant to be, Pete and Lucy married in 1950, and shared 61 loving years together until his passing in 2011. They attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church for more than 50 years, where Lucy was active in the Altar Society and, with Pete, served as Eucharistic Ministers. And now they are reunited in joy and peace. After she married, Lucy devoted her life to creating a comfortable and caring home for Pete and their two sons. Lucy’s kind heart and abiding faith made her a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, godmother, neighbor and friend. Her life was the embodiment of the insightful quote, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” Lucy was celebrated at every family Christmas holiday dinner for bringing her famous homemade lemon meringue pies—each made with great love.

Lucy was preceded in death by her:
