Anna went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2020 at the age of 88. She was born December 21, 1931 in Wynnewood, OK to Joe B. Jones & Birdie Beatrice (Thomas) Jones. She was raised in Wynnewood, OK where she graduated from Wynnewood High School in 1951. After graduation, she began a career with Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator. On April 30, 1960, she married the love of her life Hugh Edward Smith, and the two started their family. After the birth of their daughter, Anna tended to the home and family for 16 years. In 1979 she began a career with the Oklahoma City Public Schools working at the Administration Building, Southeast High School, then at Emmerson High School, from which she retired. Anna was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church, where she served as church hostess and taught 3rd grade Sunday School in the early years of the church. In later years, Anna was a faithful member of the JOY Sunday School class. Anna was proud of her flower garden, and would often receive kind words from neighbors passing by. She loved playing cards and dominoes with friends, vacationing with her family to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and attending musical programs at Lyric Theater. Anna was known for her love of Braum’s ice cream. Even when she could no longer take herself or meet friends there, visiting family members would bring a scoop of strawberry or orange sherbet to her several times a week. Most of all, Anna enjoyed the time with her family. Whether it be a family reunion, or a holiday get together, she was always excited for time with her loved ones. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and dear friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe & Birdie Jones; husband of 40 years Hugh E. Smith; sister: Billie Manasco; and her brother: Jerry Jones. She is survived by her daughter: Deborah & husband Tim Young; brother T.C. Jones and his wife Joann; sister Dorothy Anderson; three grandchildren: Danielle & husband Charlie Otis; Branson Young & wife Jessie; and Mason Young; two Great grandchildren; Alyssa & Carter Otis, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
