Barry was born December 22, 1939 to Clark & Nanora Hartman in Goltry, Oklahoma. He spent his childhood years in Enid and Ada. Then in 7th grade, he moved to Oklahoma City where he would spend the rest of his life.

In 1958 he graduated from U. S. Grant High School. Following graduation, he started his apprenticeship and later became a Journeyman Electrician & member of the IBEW Union local 1141. Barry was employed with Thomas & Betts for many years. In November of 1962, Barry married Judith Martin in Oklahoma City. Together they were blessed with two children, Michele and Jason. Barry worked hard to support his family. While working as an electrician he began designing, building and installing pools and spas. In 1979 he went into business for himself and opened Paradise Pools and Spas. He owned and operated his business for over 40 years in the metro. Barry had countless clients and many became good friends over the years.

In 1984 Barry and his children lost Judy and that was an event that changed their lives forever. With the support of their loving family and close friends, they were able to stay strong and move forward. Barry continued working and remained focused on projects while spending time with his children. He and the kids made great memories together.

On February 14, 1998, Barry married Lora Bailey. Lora and Barry enjoyed traveling and he was always up for a trip. Some of his favorite trips were an Alaskan cruise, two weeks in Paris, Hawaii, Florida trips including; St. Pete, St. Augustine & Key West, Bermuda, Cabo, and Vail. Hartman family reunions in TX & CO were especially memorable. Travelling together was fun. He had a sense of adventure and liked to “go and do”.

Barry LOVED “OU” football and was a proud season ticket holder for over 40 years. He rarely missed a game. Special memories of road trips with Caroline and Rollie, to bowl and OU/TX games were full of laughter and fun. OU football games were a Hartman family “all day event” with his Mother, brothers, daughter, granddaughter, nieces and nephews.

Barry was a story-teller, whether he ran into you at the grocery store, on the job, at a game or visiting with neighbors. He would find something in common with whomever he spoke. Barry loved people and they loved him.

Barry was a loving faithful husband, father, Papa and friend. He loved to spend time with his family. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him and he made sure they knew it. His granddaughters were the “joy” of his life. He loved going to their school and sporting events and spending time with them.

Barry will be missed by his family, friends and clients. He may not be here on this earth any longer but the lives he touched and legacy he left behind will remain with those that have not yet departed.
