Gertrude “Trudy” Grace Thompson went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Friday, January 1, 2021 at the age of 85. The daughter of Joseph and Waunita Livingston, she was born August 12, 1935 in Frankfort, Wisconsin. She graduated from Pepin High School and married her one true love, Hugh Martin Thompson and together they shared 66 years of marriage until his passing 24 days earlier. Trudy worked as a line worker and artist for Schuler Candy Factory and for Brock’s Candy Company. Trudy designed the molds for the first gummi bears and gummi worms made in the United States that were produced in 1986. She was a faithful member and devoted Sunday school teacher in the Winona Gospel Church of Winona, Minnesota and of the Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church of Oklahoma City. She made the Bible come to life through her tremendous story- telling and illustrative art. Her art graces the walls of the toddler play area of the Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church to this day. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother she enjoyed baking breads and giving sweet rolls away especially during the holiday season.
