Sergio Aguilar passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on August 21, 1950, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas to mother Amparo Equigua and father Pedro Aguilar. He was the definition of a great man with a Godly heart who was actively involved with the Catholic Church. Sergio dedicated his life to loving, protecting, and working hard for his family; one of his last wishes was that his family always stand with each other and love one another. He was and always will be highly respected by anyone who knew him. His quiet but kind demeanor always brought a calming presence to any room and still, he was one of the strongest people to those who knew him. The following is an excerpt from his youngest son, Ernesto.
“My dad was one of the greatest influences in my life, he taught me how to be a man, how to look at life with a smile, and to always stand on my feet when life hits you hard. The great laughs we would have trying to decide who would be the one driving that day, the talks we shared while driving and listening to oldies while he would share his memories of his youth. His favorite songs have influenced all of my music taste. He was my best friend, my mentor. Whenever I had doubts about the world or the path I was on, he would always have the right words to set me straight. His love and passion had no bounds, always telling me “If you can help somebody do it because you never know when you might need help yourself, but never for something in return, do it out of the kindness of your heart” and “If you ever do something do it to the fullest and best of your ability, and if you feel that you can’t do that then it’s best not to do it”. He was the greatest man God has ever placed in my life and his memory will live on forever in my heart and his teachings will be passed down to my future children.”
In addition to his beloved parents, he was predeceased by his brother Tony Garcia. Surviving in addition to his cherished wife, Graciela (Lucio) Aguilar are their sons Sergio Aguilar, Rogelio Aguilar and his wife Olga Aguilar, Ernesto Aguilar, Marco Aguilar, and daughter Graciela (Aguilar) Solis and husband Luis Solis. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren whom he always looked after and loved dearly: Olga, Analisia, Belisiana, Jaden, Adalyn, Cruz, and Rustie. Great-grandchild Belizia. He is also survived by his siblings Alberto Aguilar, Alejandro Aguilar, Amparo Antu, and Martha Antu.

Sergio Aguilar entró a su descanso el Domingo, 3 de Enero del 2021 en la ciudad de Oklahoma City, OK. Nació el 21 de Agosto de 1950 en Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas y sus padres fueron la señora Amparo Equigua y el señor Pedro Aguilar. El era la definición de un gran hombre con un corazón piadoso quien estaba activo en la iglesia Católica. Sergio dedicó su vida a amar, protejer, y trabajar duro para su familia. Uno de sus últimos deseos fue que su familia siempre estuviera junta y se amaran el uno al otro. El fue y siempre será altamente respetado por todos los que lo conocieron. Su forma de ser era callado pero amable y su presencia al entrar a un lugar siempre lo llenaba de calma, y fue una de las personas más fuertes para los que lo llegaron a conocer. La siguiente síntesis viene de su hijo el menor, Ernesto.
“Mi padre fue una de las influencias más grandes de mi vida, me enseño como ser un hombre, como ver la vida con una sonrisa, y de siempre quedarme de pie cuando la vida te golpea duro. Las risas que teniamos al tratar de decider cual de los dos manejaría ese dia, las pláticas que compartiamos al manejar escuchando canciones viejitas mientras el compartía historias de su infancia. Sus canciones favoritas han influenciado mi gusto en la música. Era mi mejor amigo, mi mentor. Cuando me llegaban dudas de la vida y del camino en el que andaba, el siempre tenía las palabras correctas para mi. Su amor y pasión no tenían barreras, siempre diciendome “Si puedes ayudar a alguien hazlo, porque nunca sabes cuando puedes ocupar tu la ayuda, pero nunca ayudes para esperar algo a cambio, hazlo con la amabilidad de tu corazón” y “Si haces algo, siempre hazlo con lo mejor de tu habilidad, y si sientes que no lo puedes lograr, es mejor que no lo hagas”. Él fue el mejor hombre que Dios a puesto en mi camino y su memoria vivirá siempre en mi corazón y sus enseñanzas seran pasadas a mis futuros hijos.”
Adicionalmente a sus padres, también le precedió en la muerte su hermano, Tony Garcia. Le sobrevive su querida esposa, Graciela (Lucio) Aguilar y sus hijos, Sergio Aguilar, Rogelio Aguilar y su esposa, Olga Aguilar, Ernesto Aguilar, Marco Aguilar, y su hija, Graciela (Aguilar) Solis y esposo, Luis Solis. También le deja lindos recuerdos a sus adorados nietos a quienes siempre cuidaba y consentía: Olga, Analisia, Belisiana, Jaden, Adalyn, Cruz, y Rustie. Bis-nieta Belizia. También le sobreviven sus hermanos, Alberto Aguilar y Alejandro Aguilar; y hermanas, Amparo Antu y Martha Antu.
