Obituary for James Eugene "Jim" Mitchell

Funeral services to celebrate and honor his life will be Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 1 PM at the Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel, 6934 S Western, Oklahoma City, OK, with burial following at the Czech National Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.

James Eugene Mitchell, was born March 26, 1936 in Gans, Oklahoma. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the age of 84. Jim moved to Oklahoma City at the age of 4, spending most of his life here. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School, in 1953. Jim met the love of his life, Beverly Morava and they married on August 6, 1955. He served as an MP in the US Army. Soon after being discharged from the military, he went to work on the Santa Fe Railroad for 11 years. He then began his career with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, retiring as a Chief after 21 years of service. After retiring, he and Beverly enjoyed raising and showing Miniature horses for years, then moving to Springtown, TX in 2008, until his passing. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Jim leaves behind his loving family, Wife of 65 years, Beverly Ann Mitchell of Springtown, Texas;
Son, Michael Mitchell, of Duncan, OK;
Daughter, Lisa and Son-in-law, Ted Anderson of Boyd, Texas;
Granddaughter, Taylor Herrera and husband Jimmy, and Great granddaughter, Liliana, of Ft. Worth, TX;
Grandson, Brandon Anderson and wife, Leah and Great Grandson, Teddy, of Justin, TX;
Many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
