Mark Wilson Suggs left this earth on February 9, 2021 after beating Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with a successful bone marrow transplant in 2020. Mark was born on May 15, 1975 to Carolyn Gaye Ratliff in Gainesville Florida. After finishing high school, Mark enlisted and served in the USNR, he then enlisted and served in the US Army. Mark was a SGT in the 82nd airborne and a combat medic. He deployed and served a tour in Afghanistan and a tour in Iraq. In his opinion, his proudest life achievement was becoming a father to Saylor Suggs in September of 2018. Mark is survived by his wife, Jenny Burks and daughter, Saylor Annette Suggs; Mom, Gaye Ratliff; Dad, Larry Ratliff; Granny, Bonnie and two daughters, Chloe Clark and Audrey Clark. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chad Suggs and Grandpa, Creed Pruitt.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the family is planning memorial services later this year.

My most sincere condolences to his entire family especially his daughter and wife. Suggs was an amazing medic but was an even more amazing person. He was such a funny guy and always had us laughing even through the worst of times in Iraq and Afghanistan. I had the honor to have served with such a great person during our time in C-Block 3/505 82nd Airborne Division. He will be greatly missed. R.I.P Mark Suggs gone but never will be forgotten.

I was fortunate to serve with Suggs in the 82nd. We went to both Afghanistan and Iraq together. My best time with him was probably Primary Leadership Development Course. I think it was like a month long training. We had to stay there the whole month in open bays and had class everyday. I got to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with that guy. He was so funny. We would always joke around. He found me somehow a couple of years ago. I was so happy to hear from him. I added him onto a group chat with some other guys from 3/505. He still had it- that sense of humor. I'm gonna miss you Suggs. Thanks for all the memories.
