Obituary for James "Jim" E. Marshall

James "Jim" E. Marshall
Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Weds.at Vondel L. Smith/South Western. Services will be held at 2PM Thurs. Nov. 19th at Oakcrest Church of Christ 1111 SW 89th St, Oklahoma City, OK

James E. Marshall was born to Jerry & Lil Marshall in Chickasha, Oklahoma on June 22, 1935, where he grew up a proud Chickasha “Chick” at Chickasha High School. A great number of people knew him as “Big Jim” not just because of his physical stature but for his large heart filled with love & kindness for everyone he met. After several years fighting various health issues, surrounded by his family, he went home to be with the Lord on the morning of November 16, 2015. Jim grew up with two older half-brothers, Jerry Franklin & John, and younger sister Mary Lou. All of whom preceded him in death. He attended college in Chickasha & later at Oklahoma A & M. After a short time working in the farm implement business with his father & industrial hardware business with his brother Jerry, he opened his own business with his wife, Mary, selling fasteners & hardware in 1970 from their home. Although they faced many adversities, they built the company from the ground up & continued building their company throughout their lives. They sacrificed & worked most nights & weekends while they had two young boys to insure the success of J & E Supply which celebrated its 45th anniversary this past August. Jim was the type of leader who quietly led by example by doing whatever job needed to be done. He was known to stop & visit some of his many customers & even more friends along his way, while making deliveries. Jim always had more than enough time to visit with anyone that God put in his path. From a young age he was a dedicated member in The Church of Christ serving the Lord putting it as his top priority. He was an active member of Rotary International with a perfect attendance record for many years that he was so proud of. Always wanting to serve God, our family, our community & others anyway that he felt he could. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing & any other activity as an excuse to go spend time & talk to other people. He is survived by his loving wife & partner Mary; son Jimmy; son Mike & his wife Jennifer. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jimmy & wife Missy, Rachel, & Luke. Also survived by great grandchildren; Ray-ray, Raymond, Romero, Kenzie & numerous loving nieces & nephews, along with a host of friends who loved him dearly. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those at Meadow Lakes, Southwest Medical Center, South OKC Rotary Club & individuals who graciously went out of their way to care for & make him comfortable throughout these difficult times.
