Obituary for Ardice Alleene Ellwood

Ardice Alleene Bock Ellwood, 93, was born in Lockhart TX to Erna and Bruno Bock, both who pre-deceased her. She also was pre-deceased by her husband of 56 years, Eugene (Gene) T Ellwood, her brother Edgar Bock of Lockhart, and her sister Evelyn Leissner Johnson of San Antonio.

She is survived by her daughter Sherry Ellwood Raynes Feagans and son-in-law Mel Feagans of Chesapeake VA, her grandson and granddaughter-in-law Scott and Joanna Raynes and her great grandchildren Sarah Grace, Caroline, and William Raynes, all of Houston. She is also survived by her son Michael Burke Ellwood and daughter-in-law Emi Ellwood of Mustang OK and step-grandson Brandon Muramatsu of Boston. Her sister Emma Jo Bock McMillan of San Antonio also survives.

Ardie graduated from Lockhart HS and the University of TX where she was a member of Delta Gamma. Married in Lockhart, she and Gene lived a slightly nomadic life as he started his career as young mechanical engineer with Gulf Oil. They moved a second and final time to OKC in 1959 and joined Grace United Methodist Church where she was very active until her later years. She was also a member of the Gulf Wives Club.

Ardie was a beautiful lady and an exceptional wife and mother with a marvelous sense of humor. We adored her. To know her was to love her.

We wish to thank Concordia Life Care Community where she resided first in Assisted Living, then Memory, and finally to Long Term for the outstanding care and love she received for her 8 years of residence. We also are grateful to OK Hospice who showed us such concern.

Finally we wish to acknowledge and thank Mrs Mary Ozment of Midwest City for her treasured friendship and the devotion she gave our mother. In no way could our family have survived this journey without her. We love you.

Vondell Smith, McArthur location, is in charge of the arrangements. Service will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial to the Alzheimer's Association, Grace United Methodist Church of OKC or to OKC Hospice.
