Obituary for Clarence Wayne Cook

Wayne Cook was born December 22, 1931 in Augusta, Kansas the son of Clarence Archibald and Sarah (Doolittle) Cook. He completed this life on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the age of 85.He married Delores Margaretha Teten in 1954. They lived in Guam for 18 months while Wayne served in the U.S. Navy. It was there they had their first child, Debra. They moved from Guam to Lincoln, Nebraska and then to Red Oak, Iowa where they had their second child, Michael. Later, they moved back to Nebraska and then to Kansas City where they had their third and last child, David. Years later, they moved to Oklahoma, where he has lived the past 39 years. Wayne was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Wayne retired from Southwestern Bell after 35 years of service. He was an avid golfer, and a member of Surrey Hills Country Club for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores on January 31, 2016; his brother, Frank Cook; and his daughter-in-law, Mary Cook.Wayne is survived by his children, Debra Gorman and her husband Joseph, Michael Cook, and David Cook; his six grandchildren and their spouses, Brian (Rachel) Cook, Gregory Cook, Erin (Michael) Gille, Kelsey (Christopher) Scholtens, Brittany Cook, and Bryce Cook; and three great grandchildren, Charles and Annabelle Cook and Alexander Gille. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Vondel Smith Mortuary, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 12th, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 10600 N.
