Obituary for Oman Ledgerwood

Oman  Ledgerwood
Oman Ledgerwood was born May 29, 1925 in Maysville, OK and died June 16, 2018 in Oklahoma City. He went to California with his family during the great depression, but soon returned to Oklahoma. He served in the Navy during WWII, received a medical discharge, then returned home and graduated from Paoli High School. He attended East Central State College in Ada, later transferring to Blackwood-Davis Business College, graduating with an accounting degree in 1950. While there he met a fellow student, Betty Human, on a blind date on Valentine’s Day 1950. They were married in Stillwater, OK on November 17, 1950. He worked as an accountant in the wholesale grocery and grocery store businesses, and later becoming a partner in various grocery stores in the metro area. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and raising cattle on the family farm in Glencoe. He was a long time member of Village United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; grandson, David Allen; stepfather and mother, Bill and Irene Hair; brothers in law, Romy Bradbury and Tom Miles; great uncle and aunt who helped raise him, John and Elzada Colley; brothers, W.P., E. J., and Erwin Colley; sisters Freda Lister, Nonnie Cowan an Prudye Randolph; mother in law and father in law, Joe and May Human; brother in law and sister in law, Maynard and Wilma Human. Oman is survived by his son and daughter in law, Joe and Glenda Ledgerwood; granddaughter and husband, Sarah and Chris Couture; sister, Virginia Gilmore and companion Jerry Kummer; sister, Billie Miles; and numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 19 and June 20, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Rose Hill Burial Park, with Rev. Rick Nichols officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Crossings Community Church Endowment. The family would like to thank Iris Memory Care and Physicians Choice Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
