Bolo

Bob used to tell this story about a prank he played on former Chief Tom Heggy. He would be laughing so hard by the end of the story that he could hardly finish it. He said he and Heggy and a few others went to lunch at Leo's Barbeque and met Leo, the owner. Heggy was known to be fastidious and was not too certain that Leo's was a safe place to dine. Bob told Heggy that the building used to be a gas station and Heggy said, "Yeah, I can still see the grease on the floor". One of the items on the menu was something called "bolo" and Heggy asked what that was. Bob made up something and didn't tell Heggy that it was smoked bologna. A few days after that lunch, Bob approached Heggy and told him that Leo was really pleased that he had come to his restaurant and that he had sent over a gift of appreciation. Bob then handed Heggy a couple of cans of Bolo brand dog food! Heggy about had a fit and shouted, "They're serving people dog food?!!" I don't remember whether Bob ever told Heggy the truth about that prank, but he certainly enjoyed telling that story and laughing the whole time.
