Obituary for Mary Lou Birdwell Isaacs (Smsith)

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM today at Vondel Smith Mortuary, 6934 South Western, with family receiving friends from 6-8 PM.


Services to celebrate her life will be 2 PM Friday, May 1, 2015 at Exchange Avenue Baptist Church, 1312 S. Pennsylvania Ave., in Oklahoma City with burial following at Resthaven Memory Gardens-OKC.


Mary, 88, was called to her Heavenly home on April 27, 2015. She was born to Henry & Elsie (Queen) Smith on Dec. 1, 1926 in Vici, OK. Mary moved to Oklahoma City after graduating from high school & worked for Armour Meat Packing Co., as well as Stockyards Bank. She enjoyed playing on bowling teams with her friends. Mary was an Avon representative for over 60 years & always dressed up with her makeup & hair in perfect place. She married Joe Birdwell in Oct. 1967 & they were married 13 years until his passing May 1980. She later married John Isaacs Jan. 1987 & they were married for 20 years until he passed May 2006. Mary always said how fortunate & blessed she was to have had two wonderful Christian husbands. Mary is survived by Joe Bob Birdwell (Yolanda); Jennifer Null (Jim); grandchildren, Tyler Birdwell (Lori), Keili Miller, Jermaine Onarecker (Duane), Christine Crites (Mark), Laura Kachelmyer (Daniel), & 12 great-grandchildren; Nancy Hackett & the late, James Hackett, Jim Hackett (Charla), Jami Bookout (Greg),Julie Hackett, Jeff Hackett (Amie) 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; Paula Barton, who was like a daughter to Mary, Tonya Almond & family, as well as her cousins from the Queen family. Mary was a loving & gracious person & we are all better for having her in our life. We will miss her smile. The family would like to express their appreciation to Rambling Oaks Assisted Living for the loving care they gave Mary.
